The Role

This position will be based out of our Washington, DC office, reporting to the Senior Vice President, International within our Public Affairs Practice. The Account Supervisor/Account Director will be responsible for acting as the day to day point of contact for key accounts; developing strategy and communications plans, overseeing execution of deliverables, drafting critical documents (op-eds, white papers, press releases) and managing media relations. The ideal candidate will have previous PR or public affairs account management experience and knowledge of foreign policy, international trade issues, defense and national security. This is an opportunity to advise international clients on communicating within the complex landscape of Washington DC and beyond. BCW has helped support governments and leaders around the world with reputation and communications, counseled some of the world’s top companies on communications regarding complex international issues like trade and tariffs, and helped promote human rights and gender equality policies and communications with big companies, international organizations and leaders. It’s meaningful work that has an impact. International work is very fast-paced and round-the-clock; the ability to successfully and cleanly juggle multiple projects and multitask is critical. While professional diplomatic experience is not required, the ideal candidate understands the complexity of people-to-people relations and is able to exhibit grace under fire.


  • Act as daily point-of-contact for clients and oversee the execution of deliverables by junior staffers.
  • Contribute to the development of strategy and communications plans
  • Management of complex communications campaigns
  • Be the go-to for initial drafts of op-eds, white papers, policy briefs, backgrounders and press releases
  • Manage media relations to include pitching, bas needed
  • Oversee budgeting and account financial issues
  • Play an active role in mentoring junior staff and overseeing high-quality deliverables
  • Stakeholder mapping and issue research
  • Qualifications

  • Previous account management experience at a PR or public affairs firm, including managing junior staff, liaising with clients and implementing communications plans
  • Experience with international policy, communications and public relations for either government or global organizations
  • Backgrounds from Foreign Service, State Dept civil service, Congressional staffer and/or agency is highly desirable
  • Superior writing and editing skills often under tight deadlines – and experience writing policy documents or white papers
  • Meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Media relations to include press releases and pitching
  • Ability to mentor and coach junior level staff
  • Understanding and comfort with foreign cultures and strong skills in other languages is a plus
  • Willingness to travel between 20% - 30%
  • 6-10 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
